1. The Hotel needs a bar 2. Our room was not properly cleaned - the ornate furniture was thick with dust in places. 3. Light bulbs were not replaced in the room.

Top Tip
1. Buy majority of currency locally. 2. Take comfortable walking shoes for the cobbles.

easy to get to everywhere on foot or metro. Nice quiet location, helpful staff although they did try to overcharge our use of the room minibar.

Top Tip
try eating at Plzenska restuarant in the basement of the Municipal House (Obecni dum). Traditional Czech, good food, reasonable prices. Worth taking the trip out to the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art, don't be put off by the exterior and immediate surroundings, great inside, varied art collections.

The Waldstein receives mixed reviews - and I understand why. If the hotel is not over-booked, and you are located in an average room, I guess that the experience will be OK. However, if, like us, you have a room in the annexe which has a bathroom and WC located across a common lobby (with the WC located in a 3'x3'- I jest not - broom-cupboard that would have brooms complaining about over-crowding), then your experience will not be so satisfying. Certainly, value-for-money wasn't a patch on locations outside Prague.

Top Tip
Unfortunately, Prague - a lovely city - has suffered over the last few years from the 'major destination syndrome': ie rip-off. Food tends to be more expensive and service worse the closer you get to the centre. Look around, avoid the areas close to the tourist traps (like the Karlov Most, Staromestke Namesto and Castle main drag), and explore and enjoy the less touristy parts - particularly the extensive parks. Rewarding experiences are easily had by just exploring the less-obvious- not necessarily far from the sheep trails. Prague is a marvellous city for just walking and wandering.
